It is hard to categorise the medium my architectural and landscape images are depicted in, they feature local Derbyshire views and landmarks and are put together from hand drawn elements, textures and photographs in a digital format.
Having worked as a graphic designer for nearly 30 years, working on a computer seems as natural to me as the work I produce in more traditional drawing and painting mediums.
My inspiration comes from my local surroundings in Belper, as well as views in other Derbyshire towns. I try to reflect the character behind a building or location and the ongoing life and struggles they face with the rich colours and textures I use.
As well as working in this way I produce commissioned portraits by more traditional drawing and painting techniques.
