Emma F Clinton was born in Derbyshire and is a self-taught photographer with an MA in Creative Writing. Her images are captured mostly in Derbyshire & Yorkshire, heritage locations across the country and in the Peak District.
Emma will photograph whatever catches her eye, though it's the distinctive qualities of the British Isles, its heritage and culture, that are the biggest draw - particularly her native county of Derbyshire. You'll sometimes find her in the heart of the city too, trying a bit of street photography or architectural work. The challenge of marrying subject and composition, and the stimulation of the imaginative and emotional response are key to what keeps her motivated.
In her botanical images - captured both in our native hedgerows and woodlands or in the grand gardens of stately homes and heritage properties - Emma sometimes sees a connection with the traditional Japanese haiku poem: natural, often distinctively seasonal, with the emphasis on the impression the subject creates in the moment. This inspires the writing of complementary haiku poems which are overlaid onto the photograph to create 'PhotoHaiku'.
Emma sells cards, notecards, prints, canvas prints and wooden block prints.
